Thank.Goodness.It's.Friday!
I love Fridays. Remember back when we (or I) was a kid and every Friday night on ABC there were the TGIF shows? Like the good shows: Step-by-Step and Family Matters. Boy Meets World, Sabrina the Teen aged Witch, Hangin With Mr. Cooper! I mean, where is Mr. Cooper now? Ahhhh, those were the good ole days.
But even with the classics gone, I still love Fridays. One of my best friends from childhood has a blog as well and each (well most) Fridays she has a Friday Five. She list five, random, often good, things about her Friday. Now, I am in no way saying I will start doing this because as we all know I am not a dedicated blogger. (Getting better at it though, I'd like to think.) But even though today is raining and cold, I just feel good today and think it will be a good day! So without further ado...my Friday Five...
1. Today is my brother's birthday. He is 20 years old. He is growing up, and I know I might sound like his mother, but I don't want him to grow up. I like him young, sweet, and innocent. But I guess if he has to grow up, I'd say is doing a mighty fine job at it. He is a good kid with an even better heart. A little quiet (he didn't get the chance to talk much as a kid with such a vibrant sister), but is always thinking about something. A lot like Dad. Happy birthday bubba.
2. One good thing about this particular Friday, lunch date! I love lunch dates with Chris. Especially on "blah" days at work. Even though today is not a "blah" day, it will still be nice to escape the office for a bit and eat lunch him.
3. I love snacks. Both the verb and noun form. I love to snack on snacks. Yesterday for work we had a big meeting with cheese and fruit as snacks. We got to take the left overs. So I have been snacking on cheese and fruit and cracker snacks all morning. I'm going to ruin the purpose of my lunch date if I'm not careful.
4. After Friday comes Saturday. (Duh.) But I look forward every week to being able to sleep in on Saturday, even if "sleeping in" only means until 8:30. I thoroughly enjoy those extra 2 hours. I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow.
5. I have apparently been stalking Rachel's blog too much. But she blogged about this thing called SWAGBUCKS. You earn money for using their search engine. Now, Rachel is no fibber, so I believe her when she says it works and she earns her swagbucks. I thought I would give it a try since I Google, EVERYTHING. I'll have to give a report soon. I will say. They gave my 3 bucks to start with and I have already earned one this morning! We shall see...

Living History...
I wouldn't be a TRUE Saints fan (or a good blogger) if I didn't report on the Saints winning the NFC Championship and getting a bid to the SUPERBOWL!!! I mean seriously, the SuperBowl!!! I witnessed history last night. For the first time in franchise history, the New Orleans Saints are going to the playoffs! It was a great game and hard fought by both teams. Poor. old Brett Farve just needs to hang it up, again. But for real this time...

Two weeks is just toooooo long to wait to see my Saints play in the 'ship! I guess I will wait, and in the mean time think of all the fun Saints stuff I can get for the house, where I am sure I will be joined by my other Saints-crazed friends to watch the game!
I love Louisiana. I love New Orleans. I love our culture, our food, and our spirit. I am so excited for the state, the city, and the football team! A lot of pride comes with the win last night. I think Sean Payton said it best last night:
"This is for everybody in this city...This stadium use to have holes in it and use to be wet. It's not wet anymore. This is for the city of New Orleans. "

Keeping my promise...
Last blog I swore I would not let the entire month go by with only one post to December's name. Being that it is December 30, I better get to it. But what to write about...?
Since tomorrow is NYE I guess I could write about New Year's resolutions. BUT I never make those. I never really saw the point. If I truly wanted to do something (lose weight, read everyday, run everyday, etc...) I would just do it. Once I put my mind to something there is really no stopping me, whether it is January 1, May 1, or August 1. If I am going to do it, I will do it. I think it is unrealistic how some people set these unattainable goals when knowing, their never going to achieve them. I say if you do make a new years resolution, keep it simple.
So I can't really talk about resolutions I want to accomplish. I guess talking about simple things in general I would like to happen see in 2010 is close enough?
*side note* What is the correct way to say the upcoming year? Is it "twenty-ten" or is it two thousand and ten?" Theoretically they are both correct, but is one better than the other? I am leaning towards "twenty-ten."*end side note*
So for 2010, I would like to continue with my 4.0 in grad school. This is the longest I have had a 4.0 and it is weird! I get nervous at the end of the semester because I don't want to break the streak. I only have 6 classes left (about 3 semesters) so hopefully I can finish out strong!
Also for 2010, I want to keep the friends I have close and pull the ones I have let drift away, back in. Having a good solid group of friends is so important. As I get older I really start to see who true friends are and who was just a good acquaintance. People come and go but true friends will always be there. I had dinner last night with true friends. I have know these girls since middle school, and while we may not see each other (hardly ever) or really even talk all that much, I know if I needed them at 2 o'clock in the morning I could pick up the phone and they would be there. Those are the high school friends. And now I have my college friends. And it's the same story with them. I know they will always be there. Always. After reflecting on just this paragraph it seems I am a blessed little girl to be surrounded with people I can always count on.
Finally for 2010, I want to continue to grow as a well-rounded person. I want to be happy all the time! I want to make others happy, all the time! I want to acheive things (I'm not sure what yet), I want to be better and make this world better! Or atleast start with my community ;)
I have learned a LOT about myself this year. It was kinda that first year on my own to spread my wings a bit. A truly weird and creepy and exhilarating feeling! 2009 was a pretty good year. I turned 22, graduated college, began a Master's degree, lived on my own for a full year, painted without adult supervision, planned a vacation for the girls, served in Mexico, was single for [almost ;) ]the entire year, made new friends, lost old friends, got a big girl job, acquired a 401k (?!), yeah...it was a good year and I am whole heartedly looking forward to 2010! :)
(Sorry if I ramble or change subjects, but it's my blog, I can do that!)

Christmas JOY!
I swore I would not let another month go by with me only posting once...I have almost failed. I still have next week so maybe I can squeeze in another one!
To me, Christmas is almost like another Thanksgiving. I am so blessed and have so much to be thankful for. But what I am most thankful for is the REASON for the Season. Yes, cliche and corny, I know but the little, catchy phrase is so true. There is a much bigger reason for this lovely holiday season. There's more to the Christmas trees and shopping and presents and bows and parties and outfits and songs and friends and..and...and....the list goes on!
The real reason is because long ago a sweet little baby was born to Mary and Joesph. He was born holy, perfect, and sinless. He was born to take my sins so I can live forever in eternity! I can't think of a better Christmas present than that!
I leave you with one of my favorite Christmas songs. It truly captures what Christmas is all about.
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us, a Son is given,
And the government shall be upon His shoulder;
And his name shall be called
Wonderful,

the Mighty God,
the Everlasting Father,
