Nothing but a number...

Age aint nothin but a number right? Sheesh, I hope so. Growing old is for the birds. But it happens to the best of us and this past Monday I turned 25. Yup, quarter life crisis. Yuck. But it was actually a really great day. It would have been even better if it wasn't a Monday and I didn't have to work. But I guess that is part of the getting old part, you have to work on your birthday.

One thing I noticed and thought was funny, but the time I logged on my Facebook when I got to work just before 8, I already had 20+ birthday messages! That's how you know you (and your friends) are old. Everyone is awake and at work or getting ready for work. I remember when no one would check their Facebook til mid-morning or after lunch, because we were all sleeping, or... well just sleeping. we were in college and could sleep and relax. Not the case anymore. We are all getting old. Boo.

I digress. Sunday when we got back from Houston, Chris and I went to dinner with my family at Outback. It was really yummy! Mom had cupcakes made and they made for a perfect dessert.

After dinner at Outback. We.were.stuffed.
On Monday I had a typical day at work. Chris picked me up and we went to lunch at Strawn's! One of my favorite places. I am obsessed with their cheeseburgers. And what better time to indulge than your birthday? And we even got a slice of pie....
Strawn's strawberry pie. Delish!
After lunch it was back to work, but I did get this little surprise...
Roses delivered to work. He's the best.
All I wanted for my birthday was flowers and a massage. Well I went shopping in Houston, instead of the massage and Chris pulled through with the flowers! :)

After work we headed to Crystin's house for an impromptu birthday party. It started as her dad having 90lbs. of crawfish that needed to be cooked and some how turned into everyone heading out there and ending with birthday cake at the end of the night!
Perfect evening for a birthday crawfish boil!
CRAWFISH!
Chris and I grubbin' on crawfish at Crystin's house. <3

The crawfish were so yummy and I had a great time with friends! It was a prefect way to spend my birthday. Here's to many more!

Birthday Trip to Houston

Last weekend Chris and I took a birthday trip to Houston with another couple, Josh and Kendra. We had a blast and it was "our" birthday gift. I got to shop a little and he got to go to a baseball game. Though, I like the baseball games as well.

If you follow me on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter you may have seen most of these pictures. But nevertheless, here is a photo recap of the weekend:

Headed down to Houston on Friday.

While the ladies shopped Chris and Josh went to The Chocolate Bar. Chris bought $14 worth of candy! And his favorite, candy ciggs. Ick.
Before the game in the hotel.
At the Rangers v. Astros game in Minute Maid Stadium
Group shot at the game.(J & K thought they were going to the Sadie Hawkins Dance)
Chris and this little boy giggled at each other for a solid 3 innings. They were hilarious.
We had a really great weekend with good friends. Happy Birthday to us!

P.D.I.

Promote volunteerism, Develop the potential of women, and Improve communities.

The Junior League held their annual meeting on Tuesday at artspace. It was a good time and more importantly signified my last event as a Provisional. I officially became a First Year Active. Woo.

Mainly I am excited about that because I will have significantly less meetings to attend :). But now the real work begins. My placement for next year is  Chair of Marketing for the Shopping for a Cause Junior League Market. I am not sure how Susie tricked, suckered, asked me to do this, but she did and I agreed. So next year will be an exciting and adventurous year!

Married Life

I have been meaning to write a post about married life, but time just keeps slipping away. Then I ran across this blog post on Facebook. I think it perfectly states everything I have been thinking and feeling. I have never read this blog before, so I don't know the girl's story, but this blog post was great.

Life in My Fairy Tale... from Little Morgan People

She talks about three stages of marriage: 1- Fairy Tale Stage, 2- Disappointment Stage, 3- Covenant Stage. Read it. It's interesting. Though I think all the stages progress over the lifetime of the marriage, sometimes I feel like I can go through all three stages in one day! I am sure this is normal, but it is a roller coaster.

Sometimes you are so in love and blinded by that, you really do think you have something that no one else has. That whole "Flying home on a bed of roses" deal. And then some days, I just want to punch him... in.the.face. Is that bad? Probably. I shouldn't say/think that. But I know he has to think the same thing about me at times. The conversation in his head: What did I get myself into?! This girl is nuts! Are all women like this? Probably so......" I am chalking it up to the " this is all part of life" category. And it is. Because at the end of the day I am right back to the Covenant Stage. I love that man more than anything. And I will grit my teeth and fold his laundry, because I love him. And I promised God I would love him. And I promised Chris I would love him. And mainly because I DO love him!!

And I always keep a promise. ;) I LOVE YOU CHRISTOPHER!

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
 Love never fails.
