I am an editor

I am an editor, not a designer.

I think I have always known this though. Let me explain. To me, an editor decides between two items. Or they take what is given to them and makes suggestions of likes and dislikes. That is an editor; someone making bigger decisions about things that have already been decided. A designer is creating from nothing. They are using their imagination and creativity to create something new. This is NOT me. I knew this but it became a screaming reality during a meeting with the flower lady. Poor, poor flower lady.

Our meeting had just started but I could already feel the tears building up. Why you may ask? Your guess is as good as mine. I just want things to be perfect. And I know every bride says that and I know it all will be, but getting to that point can be difficult. So for some reason as soon as I had to narrow down the colors of the flowers, I fall apart. Why you may ask? Your guess is as good as mine. The pressure to pick the everything is immense. SO we recovered from that crisis and moved on. Things are going swimmingly, until...mason jars or glass milk bottles. I have both and want to use both, but which do I want on the tables?? And melt down number 2 occurs. Why you may ask? Your guess is as good as mine. Good heavens why am I so emotional?!

ALL that to say, I am an editor. Give me two options I can tell you which looks better. Give me a paper, I can find your mistakes. Give me two designs, I will tell you which is better.

But do NOT  ask me to choose flower colors. Or ask me what to put a flower arrangement in. I do not and will not claim to be an expert in that area. Ever.

Update: I did apologize to the flower lady for crying over nothing. And we have met again since then and no tears were shed. :)

That's what friends are for...

I have the best friends. We are always and will always be there for each other. Whether it is big issues like parents, money and love or small things like searching the city for the perfect nail polish.

Saturday, my friends were there for me. Instead of sitting at a table for 10 by myself at a benefit ball, they got all dressed up and came with me! I am so appreciative that they took time to get fancy and come enjoy the night with me.

Crystin, David, Me, Josh, Kendra, Abby, Ryan!

Love my sweet friends so much! Abby and Ryan were already there, but I still love them too!

Then after the ball, we went to meet Jessica. Because that's what friends do. She was out with a new guy and well, he needed our approval. So we walked next door to meet Jess. We approved and then went home.

As friends we hang out with each others families and eat snow cones on gorgeous afternoons.

As friends we text and call throughout the day for no reason in particular.

As friends, we support each other. Even if we don't understand the situation or decision we want what makes us happy.

As friends we get nails done together.

As friends we go out to dinner on Friday night, just because.

As friends, no matter how long we go without seeing each other, when we finally do get back together, it will be just like old times.

Ralph

My sweet kitty Ralph died yesterday. I am so sad, seeing as how he was the best cat EVER! He would snuggle up with you and then when he was done, he would just get up and walk away. He would always great me with a meow. He was getting old and I could tell he was sick so I guess it was just his time.

But Ralph didn't leave us without one last parting gift...(this is a little gross, but very funny)...

So yesterday morning Dad went into the garage and smelled...well, cat poop. He griped under his breath and began to look for it. He searched over the whole garage and could not find it! He determined it must be under one of the cars and he would get it after work. So when Mom left to run her errands, she smelled it too. She search everywhere and could not find it either; determined it must be under the car and would get it later. As she was backing out of the garage, she looked down at her hood............and there it was. Ralph left her one last mess- on top of her hood. At this point she just had to smile and laugh. She rinsed it off with a hose and went straight to the car wash. She asked for  extra air freshener. When they called her over to tell her the car was ready she noticed there was no air freshener at all. He apologized and so "Oh, yes ma'am you will need some. I smell something in there." Mom laughed and said, "Oh really? What does it smell like to you?" Sheepishly, he looked both ways and said, "Um, well, it smells like dog boo." My mom, being just the kind of person she is, laughs and says, "Well actually, it is cat boo." They both laugh as he puts the air freshener in the car. But the smell is still very strong even standing outside the car. Since Ralph left his prize so close to where the hood meets the windshield, it proceeded to drip down under the hood. It more or less landed on the air intake...wonderful. The car wash guys and mom had a good laugh. But then she said, "Well I guess I can't be too upset because he did pass away this morning." At this the carwasher stopped everything and said "Yo cat died this mornin?!" Mom laughed and said yes but everything's ok. I think he did feel a little bad, but he was nice about it and put extra air freshener.

But let me tell you, Ralph will be with his for many weeks to come. That smell is going to be hard to get out. Every time you turn the car on, it is like poop air being blown at your face. Disgusting. I sure will miss my Ralphie.
