What should I do?

• Chris has left for work - a day early.
• No meetings after work.
• No errands to run for the wedding.
• No get togethers with the girls (though I do love those)
• No work events.

No, nothings. I'm ok with that. 

I will eat my dinner and be content in my quiet house. :)

The Family after graduation

I just realized I never document on here about graduation! Uh, hello! School is one of the few things that has been ruining running my life lately, and I forgot to mention it! Well I think I mentioned it but I did not give it its full justice.


I got front row seats at the ceremony, and was actually the fifth name called. I got to see everyone walk across the stage. I'll give you the highlights:

• One girl went barefoot- no shoes at all. Makes you wonder what else she went without. 
• Our colors are blue and gold, so you can imaging the shiny gold sashes we have...a girl's shoes matched that color- exactly.
• Several girls in a row had huuuuuuge high heels in varying shades or blue/purple. 
• One girls wore a flower on her head that was larger than her cap...yeah picture that. It was as awkward as you are picturing. 
• One girl wore her cap in the back of her head rather than the top of her head, and therefore her tassel hung down the back of her neck. Way to go- graduate. 
• And I won't even get into when half of the undergraduates stood when the Provost asked for graduate students to stand. Lawd. There degrees should be revoked. 

I am so happy to be done with school! And I am so glad my whole family and my new family were able to share the day with me!

Mudbug Madness!

Thursday kicked off Mudbug Madness, an annual crawfish festival held in Downtown Festival Plaza with more than 80,000 pounds of crawfish being cooked to perfection. There is also typical Southern food- fried shrimp, shrimp on a stick, gator on a stick, crawfish quesadillas, deep fried Twinkie, ribeye sandwich, etc...ya know "typical" food. All so very delicious. I did have to put my foot down and forbid Chris to eat the deep fried Twinkie. I just couldn't let him do that to his body. He'll thank me one day.

After the Mudbug Madness 5K!

Plus, we had JUST run the Mudbug Madness 5K! Chris and I finished the race clocking in at a lightening speed of 36:27! Ha ha, ok that's not lightening speed but I don't think it is awful. Chris' calf started cramping up on him really bad. I kept asking if he needed encouraging words, but he wasn't much on talking then. Hmmp. We did finish and he did admit he has fun. Well I had fun during the race, I think he had more fun after the race when he got to eat. But, whatever, we exercised had fun with friends and enjoyed a nice evening with great weather.

Chris said he wouldn't mind doing another 5K "whenever they have them again." Uhh, he must not realize somewhere in this city almost every weekend there is a 5K! Haha, he doesn't know what he is getting himself into.

Friday Five

1. Tomorrow is my BIG shower! I mean big. Like all my second mothers are hosting and basically half of Broadmoor was invited because they are all my family. I can't wait! It is going to be such a fun time!

2. Today is a glorious day outside! I am so upset I am having to stare at the sunshine through my office window. I wish I were laying out at the pool. Which I am pretty sure that's where Chris is. Grrrr.

3. Not only is to day Friday, it is the start of a 3 day weekend! Woo!

4. Chris' birthday is Monday! Maybe because he is older than me, but he finds birthdays to be not a big deal. I had to tell him "Well welcome to the world where birthdays are a BIG deal!" I don't know why he doesn't like to celebrate birthdays, but that will change. I bought him a grill as his present. I had to give it to him when he got off the rig on Wednesday, because it is a little hard to wrap and hide a grill. He loved it. And when he opened the grilled, his wedding ring was inside. Honestly, I think that was his favorite part- which just melts my heart.

5. So Saturday is my shower, Sunday we are grilling for Chris' birthday and Monday I am going to a pool party during the day while Chris' golfs and then we are going to Pepaws for dinner. Whew! Good thing we get that extra day off!

How can I keep from singing?

Weekend Recap:

Friday- Left work and went on a quick shopping trip to Loft. (I had to have a new birthday outfit. Duh.) Then Jason's Deli and Geauxcicles (Google it!) with Jess and Crystin. So yummy and great relaxing QT with my girls.

Saturday- My birthday! Lunch with an olllllld friend. Old as in we have known each other since we were born. And it was at Newk's which makes it even more fabulous. Then shopping with Mom. Bought 2 new dresses and got a purse! After a little couch time, it was time to get ready for my birthday dinner! We went to Oyster Bar and then went and did a little dancing.

Sunday- Commencement! I finally graduated with my Master of Science in Human Services Administration! No more complaining about school! (Well, until I start teaching in the fall, and then I am sure I will have something to whine about.) Chris came in for graduation and I was so happy he was there. Then we all went to Cheesecake Bistro after! Which was SO yummy! Love that place. It was great to have my whole family and Chris' family (minus Tiff) there.

So Monday morning when I was recapping all this in my mind, these lyrics popped in my head:

I am so grateful for everything happening in my life right now. How can I ever cease to stop praising God for all he has blessed me with?

Birthday!

Well, May 21 was Judgement Day, or it was supposed to be... whatever.

Most importantly, May 21 is my birthday!!

I started the day with lunch with a dear old friend. But regrettably did not take a picture! Ugh. Then shopping with Mom!

Then my friends and I started the evening at Oyster Bar. Yummy food with sweet friends!

Then we continued the night at Chicky's. Did a little mingling with friends, a little dancing and had a great birthday night!

Final Grade

I just need to post this in my blog so I will remember how ridiculous it was. 

I checked my final grades of my master's program as soon as they posted them. I was shocked/appalled/angered to see a "B" listed next to one class. I could not wrap my brain around how I got a B. I, of course being the freak I am, immediately e-mailed my teacher:

"Can you please explain and show me how I received a B in HSA 762?  The official grades have been posted and I am completely blind sided by the B that is posted. The grades in the Moodle grade book add up to 485 out of a total of 510. Am I missing grades? Please let me know."

Maybe a little gruff, but I was none too happy. I also decided to email the program director. Since she has access to all of our grades. I explained I know it is only a B but I was really shooting for a 4.0. Response: 

"You actually earned an A in the course.  "Professor" was out of town when grades were due and the call was made to enter Bs for the students.  The Dean is processing change of grade forms and it should be in the system by Friday.  Thanks!" (emphasis added)

Uhhhhh, DO WHAT?? Does anyone else see what's wrong here???? How can a decision be made to just give everyone Bs. That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard!!! But any who, the grade should be changed.

But don't you worry, they will hear about it, if it does not change. Here's to a 4.0!! 

First Shower!

I have been so busy with so many great things lately!! But I had my first bridal shower last weekend!! It was so fun and I got lots of great gifts that both myself and Chris will appreciate. I think the gift Chris liked the most was the slow cooker. He.is.pumped. Never mind the dishes and silverware we got, he just wants to open the crock pot. Mercy.

Osama Who?

I realized I forgot to document a very important part of history...Osama Bin Laden is DEAD! I got on Facebook Sunday around 9ish and everyone's status was about Bin Laden... wondering if he was really dead or celebrating/congratulating the NAVY Seals. President Obama reported to the American people at 11 p.m. that night that in fact, Osama Bin Laden had been killed by the United State of America. He was buried at sea so no country would have to have his body.

There has been much debate about actually being able to see his body. Some are demanding to see it as proof. Some want to see his face blown up because we, as Americans, had to see our own people suffer and die in the Twin Towers. Others want to take the high road and show no picture, because we wouldn't want to see American soldiers pictures paraded like that. 

It's a hard thing to celebrate a death. And I am not celebrating, but I do think the US and the world are better off. My only fear now, is that some other crazy is going to take his place. Which I am sure will happen eventually. 

Too Busy

My birthday is in 12 days. I didn't even realize it until yesterday, but I haven't even had the chance to annoy everyone and start a count down. 12 DAYS! That's really soon and I hardly remembered! Tooooo Busy.

Last week was the first time I thought to myself I have too much on my plate. But mostly because school is insane right now. So once I finish this week, hopefully things will cool down. Then all I have to do is:

• Wedding shower
• Bridal pictures
• birthday
• graduate
• wedding shower
• Chris's birthday
• find a house
• find shoes
• find bridesmaid shoes
• stuff invitations and mail
• etc, etc, etc....

Happy Mother's Day!

My mother will be making her way home from Las Vegas on this Mother's Day. So there's really nothing I can say or do to trump that little trip. But I think the Mother's Day post from last year is still very fitting.
