Media and PR- Huh?

Yes, I am the Director for Media and Public Relations at LSU Shreveport. But to many people that means nothing. They are certain I must do something all day, but never know quite what that entails. And a lot of days, I don't know what I will be doing either. But I am ok with that, because I know I will never be bored. As type A and OCD as I am, I always find it odd that I am ok with not knowing exactly what the day entails. Interesting.

Anywho, I found this article floating around on Twitter, because yes, it is in my job description to be on Twitter- all day.

It really describes my job perfectly, and humorously. If you have time, read the comments on the article too. They are too funny and also add a lot to the list. Most of them are true. A couple of my favorite comments:
  • You can't help but edit your [future] husbands' angry emails [or really anything that he says] to a client so he 'takes the high road'
  • You tell your family/friends how stories on the radio (tv, newspaper, etc.) got placed.
  • Much like a CIA operative, your friends and family will never know what you really do
  • You become an "expert" about the most random topics: from EMRs and wind turbines to property maintenance and meat processing. - For me it seems I am a weather expert now. Anytime we have bad weather in the area, people begin to ask me if we are going to shut down.
  • And this is my Ultimate favorite: You can power walk in 5 inch heels with your laptop bag and checking your BlackBerry

Hope you enjoyed that and maybe even learned a little something!

Friday Five

1. Today is not just a Friday, it is GOOD Friday!! Do you know why it is GOOD Friday? Let me tell you. Today is Good Friday because today is the day Jesus died on the cross for my sins, and your sins, and the worlds sins! He died for me and He died for you. Hallelujah!!

2. And this weekend is not just a weekend. It is EASTER weekend! Because after three days of being in the tomb, Jesus arose from the dead and because of his resurrection, I can go to Heaven! Hallelujah!

3. And this weekend is more than Easter eggs, bunnies, and family dinners. This weekend is about remembering what Jesus did for me. He died for my sins, in my place! Hallelujah!

4. Thank you Father for sending your son in my place. Thank you for providing a way for me to get to Heaven! Thank you for allowing me to be a child of God.

5. So rather than the picture up top, this is what this GOOD Friday is about:

HALLELUJAH!

Oops...

So this is how crazy my brain has been lately...

I go to pick up my graduation invitation. (Back story- Mom was out of town, and I asked her if I even needed to get invitations. She didn't reply quick enough so I just bought 15, just in case. When she does write back, she says Nah, I don't need any.) So I go to the bookstore to pick up the 15 invitations I ordered needlessly.

The worker pulls one out and says, "Just look this over one last time and make sure everything is spelled correctly." I begin to read, "... Jennifer Beth Cook will receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services Administration..." It had already been a long day, so I just sighed and said, "Um, this is suppose to say Master's degree. I am getting a Master of Science degree in Human Services Administration." The worker said "Oh no," and pulled out the order form that I filled out, and said "Um, ma'am it says Bachelor on here."

So yup, while filling out the form of what to print on my invitation, I actually wrote "Bachelor of Science" degree. Sheesh, where is my mind?!

I could blame someone else and say, why didn't anyone in the bookstore realize LSUS doesn't even have a Bachelor of Science in HSA, but whatever. No, I am just ridiculously out of my mind right now.

So Mom, we won't have any graduation invitation and I am out 20 bucks.

I love a good countdown. It's something to look forward to. The anticipation is killing me and I just can't wait until every, single one of these days arrive! And these days I have quite a few started!

17 days- until final papers are due for school!
25 days- until my first shower!
26 days- until my bridal pictures!
32 days- until my birthday!
33 days- until GRADUATION!
39 days- until my other wedding shower!
41 days- until Chris' birthday!
100 days- until my accountablity group wedding get-together!
101 days- until my bridal luncheon!
102 days- until I marry the love of my life!
103 days- from sitting on the beach as a married woman!

When I look at things this way, I certainly do not have much to complain about!

Checking in... and out.

I know I have seriously been slacking with the blog. So I am checking in, quickly. I have been sailing rough waters at work and have become very discouraged lately. Things are better this week, but it was gloomy for a bit.

Can I just say that gathering addresses, may quite possibly be the most annoying wedding task. Geez. That has also consumed the last week.

And school, well I am just about over that. Sure Spring Break is next week, but I swear they only give you that week "off" so you can go a head and complete the 30 page paper for one class, or the learning portfolio and final project for the other.

And then there is the gym. I get tired just saying the word. I do enjoy working out, I really do. And I enjoy being with the people I work out with. I have a super fun new trainer who is so sweet, and very helpful that I work out with twice a week. And I go to an ab class twice a week. I love working out and getting in shape, not just for the wedding, but just to feel better about myself. But working all day and going to the gym is exhausting. I leave straight from work head straight to the gym, and work out there until 6 or so. Make it home, eat dinner and then....a nap? Oh heck no. Then there is homework, papers to write, books to read, invitation list to complete, clothes to wash, clothes to fold, emails to write, the list is never ending. And if you don't do it Monday night, it is all there Tuesday night. And if I can just put it off until Wednesday, well then Chris is home and I will never get anything done because I want to savor every moment with him until he has to leave, again.

Ahhhhh, well I feel better now. I am sure you are bored to tears to listen to me gripe, but it's my blog :)

Friday Five

 1. It's Frrrrriiiiiiday, Friiiiiiday! Got to get down on Friiiday. If you don't know what I am singing, please view this and you will be caught up. And then you will hate me because it is so annoying but will be stuck in your head all day. You're welcome.

2. I had a really good week at the gym. I went Monday-Thursday and had good work outs. I also ate really healthy this week. Go me!

3. Kickin in the front seat, Sittin in the back seat....Got make my miiiind up, which seat can I taaaaaake....

4. We still need to pick out tuxes for the men. And shoes for girls. Because right now, the boys are naked and the girls are shoeless...that would make for an eventful wedding.

5. Ok, one more...

Partyin, partyin, YEAH! Partyin, partyin, YEAH! We, We, We so excited!
